The overarching goals of the Developmental Research Project Program (DRPP) are: 1) to continue to increase biomedical research capacity in Kentucky by assisting faculty at the primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs) become competitive for independent NIH research funding, and 2) to provide the highest quality research training to undergraduate students.
Specific Aims:
Develop independent research investigators to provide superior research experiences for undergraduate students.
Build a sustainable research network.
Maximize the research training opportunities for undergraduate students, particularly from underrepresented populations, throughout Kentucky.
Provide mentoring for career advancement of research faculty.
To achieve these aims, the DRPP provides annual R15/R16 grant writing workshops, one-on-one mentoring, site-visits, and several research support mechanisms (see Funding) for researchers at all stages of career development.
