Purpose

The objective of the KY INBRE PPA grant program is to provide support to promising early-stage and independent investigators at Kentucky colleges and universities to establish and/or maintain NIH-funded research programs involving undergraduate students. This one-year mechanism is targeted to three categories of investigators: 1) New PUI faculty with little or no preliminary data in the initial stages of developing a competitive research program; 2) Early-stage investigators previously funded with a KY INBRE Research Project (RP) award who have published, successfully mentored undergraduate students, and submitted NIH R15 or R16 grant proposals; and 3) Independent investigators who have previously received an R15 or R16 award and currently have a competitive R15/R16 renewal proposal pending or in preparation.
