Project Title: Improving the properties of antimicrobial peptides and CO releasing molecules

About the project: Our project will be using unnatural amino acids to construct peptide-based molecules that can be used as biosensors and antimicrobial therapeutics. 

Intended outcomes: I hope that this project results in molecules that can target and kill antibiotic-resistant pathogens without harming human cells. 

How KY INBRE will help accomplish these goals:
The KY INBRE funding is helping achieve this goal by allowing me to purchase necessary equipment and supplies that will be needed to carry out this research, as well as funding to pay undergraduate student researchers to help with this project.
